CREATIVE SOLUTIONS TO LIVING WITH A KITTY LITTER BOX

Let's face it. I love my kitty cat just as much as the next crazy cat woman. That doesn't mean I love scooping through a box of sand and cleaning out his poo and clumps of sand. I am a neat freak and get that queasy feeling in the bottom of my stomach at the idea of someone coming over, and smelling litter in my small apartment, or god forbid actually seeing the litter box in amongst my faux-designer furniture and decor.

At first, I wracked my brain hunting for ideas on how to disguise what essentially is a poo box, in the most stylish and appropriate way. My research revealed so many incredibly smart ideas, I thought best to share them with everyone!

Here is a list of creative kitty litter solutions. You're welcome.

Firstly, one of the best Ikea hacks I think I've ever seen. via The Gold Standard.
You can actually hide the whole little box in a tiny cupboard and pop a hole on one side for your cat to enter though. It's so smart, why didn't I think of this first? You can even fashion a little spot for the shovel to sit and some cleaning bags!

Then there is the solution for the super hip and stylish people. Who also might have the space in their home. Made by Bham Design Studio, you'd never know what was behind this cute cat hole-in-the-wall!

When there's no laundry in your apartment but you don't want to place a litter box in the kitchen, this is a GREAT solution found in an Tel Aviv apartment designed by Liat Evron. The cat will feel like one of the family, heading into the bathroom to do it's business!

Or if your cat has high standards or just really great taste, the Modernist Cat has some doozies that I'd be happy to show off in my home.

Or an even more minimal look with this Black Velvet piece, made from plywood, keeping the mess in!

Or one of my personal favourites and such a cheeky idea. Plonk the kitty-littler tray inside of a big old pot plant. It will also make for a great / hilarious instagram picture if your cat has a social profile.

There you have it! If you have any other ideas or creative ways to hide that awkward and ugly cat litter tray, to say your furry friends the embarrassment of having to go in front of guests - then please share them in the comments below!
