SAVING MONEY TO BUY A HOUSE 101

Last year I made a huge commitment to save enough money to buy a house...... within ONE year. Yep, that's right, you heard correct.

And guess what? I did it! I bought a house at the end of 2016, in Melbourne. It's an actual house, it's walls don't connect to any one else's, it has 2.5 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. A front yard, a backyard (they are tiny) and not one but TWO balconies. It has a kitchen, a dining room and a separate lounge room.

Want to know how?

I am going to start sharing all the tips and hints and thing's I've learned over the past year and more so you can understand how I did it. Maybe you can even try too, it's not that hard and something that I think anyone can try - no matter where you live.

In the blog you will most likely read references from other blogs like the legendary Mr Money MustacheThe Barefoot Investor and other money saving insights. It’s how I learned and how I hope you will too.

I will separate the blog posts so I can go into detail about each step but here's a quick snippet of a few of the topics:

  1. CUT THE CREDIT CARD
  2. RIDE A BIKE
  3. START MAKING, NOT BUYING
  4. STOP CONSUMING
  5. RESEARCH & CHANGE BANKS
  6. INVITE FRIENDS IN
  7. DRINK LESS ALCOHOL
  8. CUT BACK / CUT OUT COFFEE
  9. GROW YOUR OWN
  10. MASTER THE SIDE-HUSTLE

So you can see, it's not rocket science, but it does take discipline and you need to REALLY want it. I am also happy to answer questions along the way. Enjoy!
