It's happened! Dreams do come true. Ikea and Hay finally had their baby and released a collection of curious and colourful objects for the home, naming it YPPERLIG.
The duo behind Hay managed to merge their sophisticated aesthetic with Ikeas practicality and ease. It really makes my heart happy to see this collaboration finally hit the shelves in Australia because they are both brands I have adored for a long time.
IKEA believes strongly in the idea of democratic design: design for everyone. Similarly, HAY strives to make good design that is accessible to a wide audience - and they've done it.
A couple of my favourite pieces that I will admittedly be running off to Ikea tomorrow to purchase are the YPPERLIG wall shelf and mirror (both pictured below). Together they only come to $45 and that's a bloody bargain for such functional, minimalist beauty!
The desk lamp and chairs fall in very close second and third to my must-haves, if I can convince the other half that we can do with some new minimalist dining chairs to replace our vintage Danish dining chairs!
Do you have a favourite and are you just as excited as I am about the collection? I hope so! I honestly can't wait to see how people begin styling these beauties in their own homes. Here's to asthetically pleasing homewares and two Northern Hemisphere favourites colliding.
